The Red Pyramid

The Red Pyramid, by Rick Riordan, is a good book- if you like 1.) his other books (for those of you who've read them.)  2.) If you like Egyptian mythology, or 3.) If you like action fantasy books.

 I liked it, it wasn't one of Riordan's better books, but it was okay. For those of you who haven't read any of his other series, it's a good book about a brother and a sister who have "the blood of the [Egyptian] Pharos" in both of their parent's blood lines. Their mother had died 6 years ago in freak accident, so the sister went to live the British grandparents and brother went off with the dad, traveling around the world all the time. Eventually, something (I can't tell you what) happens, and the siblings have to team up against the evil god of chaos, Set, in an adventure to free their father (darn, I told what part of what happens) and save the world, like in all of his other books.

The Book Thief

I'm sure most of you have already seen/read The Book Thief  , by Markus Zusak, and already know how AMAZING it is, but for those of you who don't, let me tell you- it's awesome. I loved seeing the pictures Zusak paints of  Liesel's  neighborhood.  But remember, it's a Holocaust book. Now I know why you never read a Holocaust book at night, especially when you're 10 pages from finishing it. This is all I have to say.

Little Women

Little Women , by Louisa May Alcott, is a great novel and I highly recommend it to those who love classic, old fashioned books. For those of you who don't/ didn't like Dragon Wings , this book probably won't be your favorite book, but you'll like it. Everyone can find a character to relate to. I
LOVED reading this book and hope you will enjoy it too.

Boy in the Striped PJs

In chapter 6, Bruno asks a tough question (without meaning to) to Maria. He says, " I'm only saying what I feel. I'm allowed to do that, aren't I?" Later he says again,"I'm not allowed to say what I feel?" Poor naive Bruno. He doesn't know what is going on beyond outside his little Bruno world. I wonder if some Jewish kids were as clueless as Bruno was. What would be their point of view? How would they see the concentration camps?.....  This quote also shows how serious it was to try to: 1. Show kindess to your maid, and 2. Have a conversation about the war. I'm so glad I don't live in those times.
